Community over Code: Experiences in Global Collaboration

Four members and friends of the 4th Unitarian Society of Westchester share how Helen Mizer influenced their lives.

Susan Schefflein talks about Mary Oliver, her impact on Unitarian Universalisim and Mary Oliver's impact on her own life. 

Susan Schefflein speaks about the theology of Emily Dickinson and attempt to de-code Dickinson's "religious" poetry. The presentation will review the ambiguities that give the work its density, mystery and beauty.

Member Don Readpath hosts a a discussion of how to accommodate both science and religion in a Unitarian Universalist world-view without diluting the value of either or both in "A free and responsible search for truth and meaning".  The service will also attempt to address the question "(How) Can we as Unitarian Universalists  simultaneously accommodate both a scientific and religious view of the world?

Member Sarah Edell shares experiences living in New Orleans during the Mardi Gras season and how the use of masks exposes our hidden selves.

Food justice is a multidimensional complexity of issues that focuses of four primary areas each of which contains its own maze of issues and complications. Its about equal access to fresh food, its about animal rights, its about creating a food production system that lets us live gently on earth and its about labor rights.
